Tasting Notes

The wine has a delicate pink rose color that is super clear. Aromas of tart red fruits, cranberry, rose petal, and light herbs pleasantly mix together. Citrus flavors combined with cranberry, dried currants, and under ripe watermelon finish with a beautiful crisp acidity. An excellent balance from start to finish the wine lingers on the tongue and lips.

Winemakers Notes

I have continually evolved my approach to making this Rose and think this may be the best one yet. A big key to creating the type of Rose I want is picking when there is enough intensity of flavor, high natural acidity and not too much sugar. The grapes were handpicked on September 1st and delivered to the winery where they were loaded into the press. After pressing the wine was cold soaked for a few days before starting the fermentation. A long cool ferment ensued helping preserve the delicate aromas and flavors of the wine. The wine was filtered prior to bottling. 100% Barbera this is truly an expression of what a single varietal Rose can taste like from Coyote Canyon Vineyards. I hope you enjoy drinking this as much I enjoyed making it.

2016 was a warm vintage in Washington State which resulted in an early harvest. In the spring, we had lots of wet weather that helped with the early season growth. The sun was out and shining through Spring and Summer but temperatures never got over 100 degrees. Because the season was very warm without extreme highs the grapes ripened without being stressed. We picked the grapes for this wine earlier than average but were super pleased with the intensity of flavor and high acidity in the grapes.
