Think black cherries coated with oak dusting as you smell this wine. After a few minutes the wine begins to open up and the fruit becomes stronger while some interesting leather notes come around. The flavor starts out big and bold but rounds into a medium bodied wine with lots of texture. The tannins are subtle and add complexity to the wine.
Malbec has always been one of my favorite wines to make, the unique color and flavors always seem to stand out. The 2012 vintage was a little cooler and I think that makes this vintage a little leaner than some years but still rich and unique. A little Syrah was added to the blend to smooth it out some but Malbec is definitely the star here.
