Tasting Notes

Dark brick hues reveal a beautiful expression of an old world style Sangiovese. Aged in predominantly small French oak barrels. This wine displays aromas of candied cherries, toasted nutmeg and dried orange peel. The palate reveals smooth tannins and a well rounded subtle lingering finish with hints of mocha and leather. This wine will pair well with your favorite tomato based pasta dish.

Winemaker's Notes

2010 was characterized but a good but shorter summer than its previous vintage. Sangiovese is as Cabernet Sauvignon a late ripening variety nevertheless, the short summer ripened the fruit just in time and displayed great structure with a good balance of sugar and acid. I used classic Italian yeast strains for this fermentation that brought out an old world style Sangiovese; medium bodied, well structured, but showing great fruit.
