A beautiful expression of an old world style Sangiovese. Aged in prodominantly small French oak barrels, this wine displays aromas of candied cherries, spice and dried orange peel. The palate reveals smooth tannins and a subtle lingering finish with hints of mocha and leather. This wine will pair well with your favorite tomato based pasta dish.
2009 was an exceptional vintage and our Sangiovese fruit was very ripe but still displayed great structure with a good balance of sugar and acid. I used classic Italian yeast strains for this fermentation that brought out an old world style Sangiovese; medium bodied, well structured, but showing great fruit.
This blend consists of 90/10 French and American Oak.
